Arsenal suffered their first defeat of the season as Brighton produced a stunning 3-0 victory over the champions at Amex Stadium, Trybal News reports.

Brighton began with confidence after impressive wins over Coventry City and Manchester United. The hosts quickly matched that form on the pitch and put Arsenal under pressure from the opening stages.

The Gunners struggled to cope with Brighton’s intensity, while Pascal Gross broke the deadlock in the 31st minute. He fired from the edge of the box and saw his effort go in off the post.

Arsenal had won their previous nine league games and seven matches in all competitions at the start of this campaign. However, they looked unusually nervous in possession and struggled to establish control.

Brighton punish Arsenal before half-time

Arsenal created their best chance to equalize on the counter shortly before the break. Bukayo Saka could not take advantage after the ball fell to him in the area following Martin Odegaard’s deflected effort.

Just seconds later, Brighton doubled their lead. Charalampos Kostoulas found too much space on the edge of the box before turning and firing past David Raya.

Mikel Arteta made no changes at half-time as he looked for a response from his side. Instead, Brighton struck again 12 minutes into the second half.

Chema Andres headed in the third goal from a Gross corner to complete a dominant display from the Seagulls.

The result gave Brighton an 11th goal in the past week. They had scored five against Coventry before producing a 3-2 comeback win at Old Trafford to stun Manchester United in the Carabao Cup.

Brighton almost added a fourth when defender Pascal Struijk headed wide from another corner. It was Struijk’s first Premier League start since his summer move from Leeds.

Arsenal had a late chance to pull one back when Kai Havertz broke through on goal. However, he shot straight at Brighton goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen.

Matt O’Riley also came close at the other end, but Raya denied him as Brighton continued to threaten.

The defeat leaves Arsenal second in the table on goal difference. They have also played one game more than Manchester City, who host Sunderland on Sunday.

Brighton, meanwhile, climb to third and move within two points of the leaders after a memorable victory over the champions.
