The Super Eagles midfielder, introduced in the 69th minute, sealed the victory late on after racing clear on a counterattack before firing a low finish past Guglielmo Vicario for his first goal of the 2026/27 campaign.

Dele-Bashiru made an impact during his cameo, recording 13 touches, completing eight of his 12 passes and making three recoveries as Lazio claimed their first league victory at Juventus since 2017.

Lazio’s victory was built on clinical finishing and defensive discipline. The visitors took the lead in the 37th minute when Mattia Zaccagni delivered an inviting cross for Danish defender Oliver Provstgaard to head home from close range, registering his first goal for the club.

Juventus thought they had drawn first blood earlier in the match through Randal Kolo Muani, but his 24th-minute finish was ruled out for offside. Lazio subsequently threatened to extend their advantage before half-time, with Nuno Tavares seeing his effort deflect onto the crossbar.

The hosts attempted to respond after the break, but struggled to create clear-cut opportunities. Instead, Lazio doubled their lead in the 66th minute when Gustav Isaksen cut inside and unleashed a fine finish, leaving Juventus with an uphill task.

Dele-Bashiru then delivered the final blow in the closing stages, finishing a swift counterattack to make it 3-0 and cap a memorable afternoon for the visitors.

The Nigerian’s goal came after his return from a right thigh injury sustained during Lazio’s 1-0 victory over Bologna on August 24, when he was forced off after 54 minutes. Following a period of recovery, he stepped up his comeback with a friendly appearance against Juve Stabia earlier in October before returning to competitive action against Juventus.

The result also marked a milestone for Lazio manager Gennaro Gattuso, who became the first manager in the club’s history to win six of his first seven Serie A matches.

The victory lifted Lazio to second place in the standings, level on points with leaders Inter Milan, while Juventus remained eighth after suffering their first home defeat of the season.

For Dele-Bashiru, the goal provides an encouraging platform to build on as he seeks to establish himself in Lazio’s plans and strengthen his case for further involvement with the Super Eagles.
