Super Eagles forward Philip Otele is set to return to his parent club, FC Basel 1893, following the conclusion of his loan spell with German Bundesliga side Hamburger SV, Trybal News reports.

The 27-year-old winger joined Hamburg in February 2026 to strengthen the club’s attacking options during the second half of the season. With his loan now complete, Otele will return to Switzerland ahead of the new campaign.

Prior to his move to Germany, the Nigerian international had established himself as one of FC Basel’s key attacking players, becoming a fan favourite with his pace, direct running, and consistent performances.

Otele also shared a heartfelt farewell message to Hamburger SV and its supporters, thanking them for the time spent together.

Dear HSV family, thank you for the short time spent together. I enjoyed every moment and won’t forget about it soon. I want to wish you all the best for the upcoming season. Forever in my heart.”

His return gives FC Basel an experienced attacking option ahead of the 2026/27 season as the Swiss club prepares for its domestic and European campaigns.
