A decision is set to be made by Brentford FC regarding the future of Nigeria international defender Benjamin Fredrick after his return from the injury that has kept him out of action since November 2025, Trybal News reports.
The young defender had earlier been sent on loan to F.C.V. Dender E.H. during the summer, shortly after making his senior debut for Nigeria at the Unity Cup in London.
A strong impression had been made during that period, as a place in the national team’s backline was secured ahead of captain William Troost-Ekong. Every senior appearance had been started by Benjamin Fredrick before injury ruled him out of the Africa Cup of Nations.
Now fully recovered, a return to full training has been scheduled for next week. Subsequently, discussions will be held by Brentford to determine the next phase of his development. A possible return to Dender remains under consideration, while the option of keeping him at the club until the summer is also being weighed.
Looking ahead, involvement in pre-season preparations is expected, where further assessment will be carried out to decide his role for the upcoming campaign. Prior to the setback, consistent performances had been delivered in Belgium, with 14 league appearances recorded, including 10 starts and a total of 862 minutes on the pitch.
