Nigerian forward Rafiu Durosinmi endured a frustrating evening in Florence as his second half introduction failed to spark a comeback in Pisa’s narrow 1-0 defeat to ACF Fiorentina.
The decisive moment came early in the contest when Moise Kean scored his third Serie A goal in as many matches to secure victory for the hosts. Fiorentina started brightly and needed just 13 minutes to break the deadlock. A cross from the right was initially headed clear, but the ball fell to Cher Ndour, whose effort was mishandled in the box. The loose ball dropped kindly for Kean, who was left unmarked inside the area and calmly finished from close range.
Fiorentina controlled much of the first half and continued to threaten. Efforts from distance failed to trouble the goalkeeper, while Kean missed a chance to double the advantage before the interval when his header drifted over the crossbar.
After the restart, the home side remained on the front foot. A free kick from range was comfortably dealt with, and late in the game another powerful strike from the edge of the area forced a strong save. Despite the pressure, the scoreline remained unchanged.
Pisa struggled to create clear openings throughout the 90 minutes and failed to register a single shot on target. Rafiu Durosinmi was introduced at the start of the second half in place of Felipe Loyola but was unable to alter the flow of the contest. He played 45 minutes, recorded no shots, completed five of his seven passes and had eight touches. His compatriot Ebenezer Akinsanmiro remained on the bench for the entire match.
The result lifts Fiorentina out of the relegation zone and into 16th place, though they remain level on points with Cremonese and Lecce and are still not safe. Pisa stay 19th after 26 matches and are level on points with Hellas Verona at the bottom, leaving them nine points adrift of safety as the battle for survival intensifies.
