Zadok Yohanna has taken another important step in his young career after making his competitive debut for Brighton & Hove Albion in European competition, Trybal News reports.
The 19-year-old Nigerian winger came off the bench in the closing stages of Thursday night’s UEFA Conference League play-off first leg against Tromsø, replacing Ferdi Kadioglu in the 87th minute.

Brighton were unable to find a breakthrough in Norway despite controlling much of the game and creating enough opportunities to take an advantage back to England. The Premier League side finished the match with 25 attempts on goal, six of which were on target.
Tromsø goalkeeper Jakob Haugaard proved difficult to beat, keeping Brighton at bay as the hosts secured a 0-0 draw ahead of the return fixture.
Yohanna’s introduction was brief, but significant. Having been named among Brighton’s substitutes alongside fellow summer arrivals Pascal Struijk, Costinha and Michael Svoboda, the Nigerian was given his first taste of competitive football for the club as Brighton searched for a late winner.
His appearance comes at an important stage of his development and gives him a first-team milestone to build on as he continues his transition into senior football at one of the Premier League’s established clubs.
Brighton will have home advantage in the second leg at the Amex Stadium on August 27, with a place in the league phase of the 2026/27 UEFA Conference League at stake.
For Yohanna, the fixture could offer another opportunity to impress and potentially make his first competitive appearance in front of the Brighton faithful.
After taking his first step onto the European stage with Brighton, the Nigerian teenager will now be looking to turn brief opportunities into a more regular role within the Seagulls’ first-team plans.
