Barcelona defender Pau Cubarsí has admitted that the Spanish giants will do everything possible to contain Victor Osimhen when they face Galatasaray in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday evening, Trybal News reports.

The 19-year-old centre-back described the Nigerian international as one of the best forwards in the world, acknowledging the threat he poses ahead of the encounter at Rams Park.

Cubarsí previously faced Osimhen in the Champions League during the 2023-2024 season, when Barcelona defeated Napoli 3-1, with the Super Eagles striker failing to find the net.

Speaking at the pre-match press conference, the Spanish defender recalled their previous meeting and highlighted Osimhen’s attacking qualities.

In my first match a few years ago, I played against Victor Osimhen. We expect to face an opponent who knows what he wants to do in attack,” Cubarsí told reporters.

The Barcelona defender also acknowledged the challenge of playing against Galatasaray on their home ground but insisted his team would be prepared to limit the Nigerian striker’s influence.

It will be clear that they are playing at home. Osimhen is one of the best forwards in the world. We will do our best to ensure he doesn’t cause us any trouble tomorrow night,” he added.

Osimhen heads into the Champions League encounter in impressive form, having scored or provided an assist in each of his first five appearances in the Turkish Süper Lig this season.

The 27-year-old is expected to feature in Galatasaray’s starting lineup after returning to action against Kasimpasa last Friday without any apparent injury concerns.

His presence will provide a significant attacking threat for the Turkish champions as they prepare to take on Barcelona in what promises to be a demanding European test.
