The Super Eagles of Nigeria have moved up to 26th position in the latest FIFA World Rankings, marking a significant rise for the national team after their impressive outing at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco.
Nigeria climbed 12 places from their previous ranking of 38th, which was where they ended the year 2025. The big jump is largely due to their strong performances at AFCON, where the Super Eagles recorded several important wins and finished the tournament in third place.
The Eagles’ campaign included victories against top opponents, and although they narrowly lost in the semifinals, they bounced back to defeat Egypt in the third-place playoff, a result that boosted their FIFA ranking points.
With this new position, Nigeria are now among the top three highest-ranked teams in Africa, behind only Senegal and Morocco, further confirming their return to the continent’s elite.
The latest ranking is a positive sign for the Super Eagles as they prepare for upcoming international competitions, with fans hopeful that the team can continue this upward rise and push for an even higher spot in the global rankings.
