Nigeria’s Super Eagles have retained their 26th position in the latest FIFA Men’s World Rankings released on Thursday, maintaining their place among Africa’s leading football nations, Trybal News reports.

The three-time African champions remain unmoved in the global standings following a mixed set of results during the recent international window. Eric Chelle’s side enjoyed success at the Unity Cup in London, where they recorded victories over Ghana and Jamaica to lift the trophy.

However, the Super Eagles were later held to a 2-2 draw by Poland before suffering a narrow 2-1 defeat to Portugal in an international friendly, results that left their ranking unchanged.

Morocco remain Africa’s highest-ranked nation, occupying seventh place in the world and continuing their impressive presence among international football’s elite. The Atlas Lions are the only African side currently ranked in the world’s top 10.

At the summit of the rankings, reigning world champions Argentina retained the number one spot ahead of Spain and France, who occupy second and third places respectively. England and Portugal complete the top five, while Brazil sit sixth.

The Netherlands, Belgium and Germany round off the top 10.

With the 2026 FIFA World Cup on the horizon, the latest rankings provide another benchmark for national teams as preparations intensify for football’s biggest tournament, which will be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico and expanded to 48 teams for the first time.
