LaLiga side Real Betis have reportedly joined the growing race to sign Nigerian midfielder Chrisantus Uche ahead of the summer transfer window.
Interest in the 22 year old attacking midfielder has continued to rise despite a difficult loan spell in the Premier League with Crystal Palace. Uche is expected to return to Spanish club Getafe at the end of the season following the completion of his temporary move to Selhurst Park.
A breakthrough campaign in England was not fully achieved by the Nigerian, as opportunities in the Premier League were limited throughout the season. Fourteen league appearances were made for Crystal Palace, although all came from the bench.
However, brighter performances were delivered in European competition. Chrisantus Uche managed to score twice in four UEFA Europa Conference League appearances, showing flashes of his attacking quality whenever chances were given.
According to Spanish outlet Fichajes, Real Betis are now prepared to make a strong move for the midfielder and are willing to offer around €15 million to secure his services this summer.
Competition for his signature is also expected, with clubs in both Spain and England reportedly monitoring his situation closely ahead of the transfer window. Despite the growing interest, no final decision has yet been made by the player regarding his future.
Uche’s rise in Spanish football has been rapid over the last two years. He joined Getafe from Spanish third tier side Ceuta in 2024 and immediately announced himself by scoring on his debut against Athletic Bilbao.
Since then, his development has continued to attract attention, with his technical ability, creativity and attacking movement making him one of the young Nigerian midfielders being closely watched in Europe.
Real Betis are now hoping to convince the midfielder to remain in Spain as they look to strengthen their squad ahead of next season.
