Former Super Falcons defender Osinachi Ohale has completed a permanent move to Italian club Como 1907 after leaving Mexican side Pachuca.
The 34 year old centre back joins Como on a free transfer following three seasons in Mexico. During her time with Pachuca, she scored six goals in 81 league appearances.
Ohale is returning to Italian football after previously playing for AS Roma in 2020. She is now looking forward to a fresh challenge with Como.
“I’m happy to return to Italy and embark on this new experience here in Como; I have a very positive feeling about it. I’m ready to do whatever the coach asks of me to help the team,” she said, according to the club’s official website.
Osinachi Ohale brings vast international experience to Como
Como 1907 Women’s Technical Director Nils Nielsen believes Ohale’s experience and defensive qualities will strengthen the team.
“Osinachi is a very experienced and good defender. Representing Nigeria for more than 15 years, many as captain, her international experience is extremely valuable for us,” Nielsen said.
“Her ability to place herself in the right spot defensively, and her 1 on 1 skills in marking as well as aerial strengths will help the team for sure.”
Osinachi Ohale began her professional career in Nigeria in 2008. Since then, she has played in several countries, including the United States, Sweden, Italy, Spain and Mexico.
At international level, she represented Nigeria for more than 15 years and captained the Super Falcons on several occasions. She also won the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations five times.
The veteran defender announced her retirement from international football last month, bringing a distinguished Super Falcons career to an end. However, her move to Como offers her the chance to continue playing at club level while bringing her experience to Italian football.
