A new contract offer from Club Brugge has been turned down by Nigeria international Raphael Onyedika, as plans are being made for a possible move away from the club this summer.
It has been reported that attempts have been made over time by Brugge to secure the midfielder’s long term future. However, those efforts have not been successful, with the player declining multiple proposals. A desire to seek a new challenge elsewhere is now understood to be the driving factor behind the decision.
Interest in Onyedika has continued to grow. During the January transfer window, links were established with Galatasaray and VfL Wolfsburg. Despite that, a move was blocked by Club Brugge, who were keen to retain him for the remainder of the season.
More recently, further attention has been drawn from the Premier League, with Aston Villa reported to be monitoring his situation closely ahead of the next transfer window.
Onyedika, who joined Brugge from FC Midtjylland in 2022, is now entering the final year of his current deal with the Belgian side, who are 19 time league champions. This has placed added focus on his future, as the club risks losing him if an agreement is not reached.
During the ongoing campaign, consistent performances have been delivered across competitions, with 34 appearances recorded in both the Belgian Pro League and the UEFA Champions League. As the summer window approaches, a key decision is expected to shape the next phase of his career.
