Kelechi Iheanacho continued his impressive start to the season in Turkey, scoring twice as Bursaspor recorded a commanding 4-0 victory over İstanbulspor in the Trendyol 1. Lig, Trybal News reports.

Bursaspor made a strong start at the Atatürk Spor Kompleksi Matlı Stadyumu and thought they had taken the lead in the 24th minute through Iheanacho, but the effort was ruled out for offside following a VAR review.

The Nigerian forward would not be denied, however, as he returned to the scoresheet in the 45th minute to give Bursaspor a 1-0 lead going into the break.

Bursaspor continued to dominate after the restart, doubling their advantage through Halil Akbunar in the 58th minute. İstanbulspor’s Duran Şahin then turned the ball into his own net to make it 3-0 before Iheanacho completed his brace in the 77th minute.

The victory moved Bursaspor onto 12 points after five matches, while İstanbulspor remained on two points.

Iheanacho’s contribution extended beyond his two goals. The striker registered five shots, 35 touches and 21 passes, completing 20, while recording two successful dribbles.

He also contributed defensively, making one defensive action and winning three of five ground duels and one of two aerial duels.

The brace takes Iheanacho’s tally to six goals and two assists in five league appearances, giving the former Manchester City and Leicester City forward eight goal contributions in his first five games for Bursaspor.

Iheanacho’s form has been a major factor in Bursaspor’s strong opening to the campaign, with the Nigerian consistently providing a decisive presence in the final third as the club targets promotion.
