Bayern Munich midfielder Jamal Musiala has revealed that he is receiving treatment for a “neurological dysfunction” after collapsing during a match for the second time in four days, Trybal News reports.

The 23 year old suffered the latest episode on Tuesday during Bayern’s 4-2 friendly win at Heidenheim. Musiala came off the bench and collapsed six minutes later.

The Germany international appeared dazed as medical staff attended to him. He then received help as he left the pitch.

The incident raised fresh concerns because Musiala had also collapsed during Bayern’s 3-1 friendly victory over RB Leipzig in Munich on Saturday.

Musiala later addressed the situation on Instagram. He explained that doctors had diagnosed him with temporary absence seizures linked to a neurological condition.

“I’ve been diagnosed with temporary, brief, but easily treatable absence seizures, which are due to a neurological dysfunction,” he explained.

“These can lead to the recent episodes, like the one against Leipzig or now in Heidenheim. I know they seem scary at first glance – but for me, they’re currently just part of my everyday life.

“I’m receiving excellent medical treatment and am very optimistic. FC Bayern and my family and friends are always by my side and supporting me on this journey.”

Musiala remains optimistic about recovery

Bayern sporting director Max Eberl had already indicated after Tuesday’s match that Musiala would address the situation himself.

“We knew about it and we are aware of the situation.

“Jamal will speak out. He’s in the dressing room, getting changed and taking a shower.”

Musiala’s latest health update comes after a difficult period in his career. The Bayern star missed the first six months of last season after breaking his ankle during the 2025 Club World Cup.

He eventually returned during the second half of the campaign and regained his place in the Germany squad. Musiala then started three of Germany’s four matches at the 2026 World Cup.

The midfielder now faces another period of medical care as Bayern continue their preparations for the new season. However, his positive outlook should provide some reassurance to supporters.

Musiala has become one of Bayern’s most important players since breaking into the first team. The club will therefore hope his treatment progresses well and allows him to return to football safely when doctors consider him ready.
