A vital response was delivered by Inter Lagos, as a 2-0 victory was secured against Ranchers Bees on Match Day 2 of the NNL Super 4.

After an opening day defeat to Doma United, a stronger and more purposeful performance was produced from the start. Early pressure was applied, and in the 19th minute, a clear chance was created, but a header into the box was stopped just before it could cross the line.

Moments later, another opportunity was fashioned, as Quadri attempted to pick out a teammate with a low cross, though no contact was made. At the other end, Ranchers Bees also threatened, with Yusuf delivering a dangerous ball into the area that was turned away for a corner.

The tempo of the game remained high, and in the 28th minute, a sharp passing move by Inter Lagos forced a save from the Ranchers Bees goalkeeper.

However, more chances were missed before the break. A header from Ranchers Bees drifted wide in the 36th minute, while a big opportunity fell to Gafar in the 42nd minute after possession was won high up the pitch, but hesitation allowed the chance to slip away.

The breakthrough was eventually made immediately after the restart. A deflected cross from Adebayo fell kindly to Qoyum, who calmly placed his effort into the bottom corner to give Inter Lagos the lead.

Confidence grew after the opener, although another chance was missed in the 58th minute when Gafar was played through on goal but dragged his shot wide.

Sustained pressure continued to be applied, and it finally resulted in a second goal in the 70th minute. Gafar’s pace caused problems once again, and he was brought down inside the penalty area. From the spot, Adebayo kept his composure and converted to extend the lead to 2 0.

Attempts were made by Ranchers Bees to respond, but their efforts produced only half chances, which were comfortably managed. Inter Lagos also had opportunities to add to their tally but could not find a third goal.

With the result secured, Inter Lagos have kept their hopes alive in the tournament. Attention will now turn to their final fixture against neighbours and table toppers, Sporting Lagos, where a chance to emerge champions will be on the line.
