Nigeria’s U20 women’s team, the Falconets, have safely arrived in Lilongwe ahead of their crucial second leg encounter against Malawi women’s national under 20 football team in the qualifiers for the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup.

A strong advantage will be carried into Saturday’s fixture by the Nigerian side after a comfortable 2-0 victory was secured in the first leg at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne last weekend.

Under the guidance of coach Moses Aduku, confidence has continued to grow within the squad, especially due to their impressive performances away from home during the qualification campaign.

Victories have already been recorded on the road against Rwanda and Senegal. A narrow 1-0 win was secured against Rwanda in the opening round before Senegal were defeated 2-1 in the second round.

With those results, belief has been strengthened within the team as preparations continue for the decisive clash in Lilongwe.

The overall winners across both legs will secure one of Africa’s qualification spots for the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup finals, which are scheduled to be staged in Poland in September.
