Nigeria’s Flying Eagles produced a ruthless attacking display to defeat rivals Ghana 4-2 and launch their WAFU B U-20 Championship title defence with an emphatic Group B victory, Trybal News reports.
The defending champions wasted no time stamping their authority on the contest, with Olayemi Ayinla breaking the deadlock inside the opening 10 minutes. Nigeria continued to dictate proceedings and doubled their advantage through Oraro Lucky before Muiz Adeleke confidently converted from the penalty spot to give the Flying Eagles a two-goal cushion heading into the interval.

Ghana showed greater resilience after the restart and attempted to fight their way back into the contest, but Nigeria remained dangerous whenever they surged forward.
Any hopes of a late Ghanaian comeback were extinguished in the closing stages when Adeleke calmly dispatched his second penalty of the evening, completing his brace and capping an impressive team performance.
The victory not only extends Nigeria’s recent dominance over their West African rivals at this level but also hands the Flying Eagles an ideal start in their quest to retain the WAFU B crown.
Nigeria will now turn their attention to their next Group B fixture against hosts Togo as they continue their pursuit of a place in the knockout rounds.
