Nigerian midfielder Daniel Daga has signed a new long-term contract with Molde FK that will keep him at the Norwegian club until the summer of 2031, Trybal News reports.
The new deal represents a significant vote of confidence in the 19-year-old midfielder, who has emerged as an important part of Molde’s plans despite experiencing a turbulent period away from football in recent months.
Daga’s progress was interrupted by a legal case in Norway that resulted in a conviction by a lower court in March 2026. The Nigerian maintained his innocence and appealed the decision. In July, the Frostating Court of Appeal unanimously acquitted him, prompting Molde to lift his suspension and make him available for selection once again.
He wasted little time making an impact on his return. Daga scored for Molde in a 4–2 away victory over KFUM Oslo on July 26, marking a memorable comeback after months away from competitive football.
Now, with his future secured through 2031, Daga can focus fully on rebuilding his momentum and continuing his development in Norway.
First and foremost, I thank God. I am very happy to have signed a new contract. I enjoy being in Molde immensely, and the club holds a special place in my heart,” Daga said.
We have a fantastic squad and an exciting future ahead of us. I am proud to continue this journey and fight for this jersey.”
Since arriving at Molde ahead of the 2025 season, Daga has made 22 official appearances for the club, scoring five goals and providing one assist. His recent performances have once again highlighted his qualities in midfield.
Molde Sporting Director Ole Jakob Strandhagen believes the Nigerian still has considerable room for growth.
Daniel is a young, ambitious player with qualities that already make him important to us. At the same time, we believe he has significant potential for further development,” Strandhagen said.
He is eager to learn, works with great focus every day, and has a strong desire to improve.”
The long-term agreement is a clear indication that Molde continue to believe in Daga’s potential and see him as part of the club’s future.
Daga also has considerable international experience, having represented Nigeria at youth level, including the FIFA U-20 World Cup. His return to regular football could now provide another platform for the midfielder to push towards the senior national team.
After a challenging chapter, Daga’s new contract gives him the opportunity to turn the page and concentrate on what he does best, developing his game and making an impact on the pitch.
