Nigerian defender Chukwuma Eze has joined Spanish club Villarreal on a season long loan from Real Oviedo, Trybal News reports.

The 22 year old centre back will spend the 2026/27 season with Villarreal B as he continues his development in Spanish football.

Villarreal confirmed Eze’s arrival through an announcement on the club’s official website. The move gives the defender another chance to gain regular experience in Spain.

Chukwuma Eze joined Real Oviedo from Nigerian academy Ajuwa Academy in 2021. Since then, he has progressed through the club’s youth ranks and worked his way towards senior football.

The defender has also gained valuable experience through several loan spells. He previously featured for CD Llanes, L’Entregu CF and Real Avilés.

Last season, Eze spent time with Real Avilés. He made 18 appearances and continued to build his reputation as a promising young centre back.

His progress has also earned recognition from Real Oviedo. The club recently extended his contract, keeping him under contract until 2029.

Chukwuma Eze has already made his senior debut for Oviedo. He first appeared for the club against Levante in April 2025.

The move to Villarreal B represents another important stage in Eze’s career. He will now have the chance to compete for regular minutes while developing within Villarreal’s highly regarded youth structure.

The Nigerian defender will hope to establish himself as a key part of Villarreal B’s defence during the 2026/27 campaign. Consistent performances could also strengthen his chances of earning more opportunities at a higher level in Spanish football.

For Eze, the loan provides another valuable platform to gain experience, improve his game and continue his steady rise in the Spanish football system.
