Nigeria Premier Football League side Kano Pillars have officially unveiled versatile forward Ubong Friday as a new signing ahead of the 2026/2027 season, as the club continues to strengthen its squad for the new campaign.

Friday joins Sai Masu Gida on a two year contract after leaving fellow NPFL side Rivers United. The former Akwa United attacker will now work under Technical Adviser Daniel Ogunmodede as Kano Pillars continue their squad rebuild ahead of the new season.

The experienced forward, who is comfortable playing across the front line but is best known for his role on the left wing, arrives with a reputation for pace, creativity and attacking quality. His addition is expected to provide more options in the final third as the club looks to compete strongly in the upcoming campaign.

Announcing the signing on X, Kano Pillars wrote: “Welcome to Kano Pillars, Ubong Friday! The exciting left winger joins Sai Masu Gida from Rivers United, ready to bring pace, creativity and attacking quality to the team.”

Friday’s unveiling follows the club’s recent recruitment drive. Kano Pillars had earlier confirmed the signing of midfielder Abdulrasheed Shola on a free transfer from Kwara United, while defender Tarabina Biweribo also arrived from Plateau United as Ogunmodede continues to reshape the squad.

With Friday now officially on board, Kano Pillars have further strengthened their team as preparations for the 2026/2027 Nigeria Premier Football League season gather momentum.
