Nigeria’s U-17 national team, the Golden Eaglets, will depart for China on Thursday night to participate in the 2026 China International Youth Football Tournament, scheduled to take place in Yinchuan from July 5 to 11, Trybal News reports.
The four-nation competition will feature hosts China, Nigeria, Australia and Tanzania, with all matches set to be played at the Yinchuan Sports Centre Helanshan Stadium.
The Golden Eaglets will be led by head coach Uwejamomere Eboboritse, who travels with a 20-man squad alongside assistant coaches Kalli Mohammed Kachalla and Abdullahi Isa.
Hosted by the Chinese Football Association in collaboration with the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region Administration of Sport and the Yinchuan Municipal People’s Government, the tournament is organised by the Ningxia Football Association in conjunction with the Yinchuan Sports Bureau and promoted by the China Football Industry Development Corporation.
The invitational tournament forms an important part of Nigeria’s preparations for the 2026 WAFU B U-17 Championship, which is scheduled for September and will serve as the qualifying competition for the 2027 U-17 Africa Cup of Nations.
The Golden Eaglets will be aiming to use the tournament to build cohesion, gain valuable international experience and fine-tune preparations ahead of the crucial regional qualifiers later this year.
