Swiss Super League champions FC Basel 1893 have announced the signing of Belgian-Nigerian winger Kazeem Olaigbe from Turkish club Trabzonspor on a season-long loan, Trybal News reports.
The agreement includes an option for the Swiss champions to make the move permanent at the conclusion of the 2026/27 season.
Olaigbe arrives at St. Jakob-Park with extensive experience across Europe, having featured in Belgium, England, Scotland, France and Turkey. Comfortable on either flank, the 23-year-old is renowned for his pace, dribbling ability and attacking versatility.
The winger began his football development at Anderlecht before moving to Southampton, where he continued his progression through the English club’s academy. He has since represented Ross County, Harrogate Town, Cercle Brugge, Stade Rennes and Trabzonspor during his professional career.
Last season, Olaigbe spent the second half of the campaign on loan at Turkish Süper Lig outfit Konyaspor, making 15 league appearances as he continued to gain valuable top-flight experience.
Internationally, Olaigbe has represented Belgium at every youth level from Under-15 to Under-21 and remains one of the country’s most experienced youth internationals.
Olaigbe becomes one of Basel’s key additions ahead of the 2026/27 season as the Swiss champions continue to reinforce their squad for the challenges of defending their league title and competing in Europe.
