The build-up to the 2026 FIFA World Cup has taken a major cultural step forward with the official release of “Lighter,” the first single from the tournament’s global album project, bringing together music and football on a worldwide stage reports Trybal News.

The track, performed by Jelly Roll and Carín León and produced by Cirkut, marks the opening chapter of what is being positioned as the most inclusive FIFA World Cup music project to date. The collaboration reflects the identity of the 2026 host nations, blending American country influences with regional Mexican sounds to create a cross-cultural anthem.

Released globally across major streaming platforms, “Lighter” sets the tone for an album designed to mirror the diversity and energy of the expanded 48-team tournament. The project aims to connect fans beyond the pitch, using music as a unifying force throughout the competition.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino described the release as more than just a soundtrack, emphasizing its role in shaping the identity of the tournament.

“The FIFA World Cup is one of the rare moments when the entire world moves to the same rhythm,” he said. “The Official FIFA World Cup 2026 Album is not simply a musical accompaniment to the tournament; it’s a statement about where the global game is going. By bringing together artists whose voices resonate across continents, we are creating something that mirrors the scale, ambition and cultural impact of this historic competition. Lighter marks the beginning of that journey. It is a powerful expression of resilience, energy and joy – a song that will connect with fans everywhere and become part of the atmosphere in stadiums, fan celebrations and communities around the world throughout the tournament.”

Jelly Roll also reflected on the collaboration, highlighting the unique blend of influences behind the song and the opportunity to reach a global audience through football.

“Music has a way of reaching people in places you’d never expect, and the way this song came together with Carín León and Cirkut is proof of that. I’ve had a whole lot of respect for both of them for a long time, so getting to come together on this record has been real special. Grateful to be able to share it with folks all over the world.”

Carín León expressed pride in representing his culture on such a global platform, noting the significance of contributing to the world’s biggest sporting event.

“Collaborating with an artist like Jelly Roll, and doing so for nothing less than the biggest sporting event in the world, is something that fills me with pride,” he said. “As a Mexican, I’m incredibly excited to be part of this project and to bring a piece of our music and culture to so many corners of the world. Very grateful for the opportunity and happy to share what we love most: music from the soul.”

Producer Cirkut added that the aim was to create a sound that reflects the spirit of the host nations while resonating with fans globally.

“Working with Jelly Roll and Carín León on the first record of the FIFA World Cup 2026 Album was a real honor. We wanted to create something that carries the sound and soul of the host countries, and hits in a way that connects with fans around the world.”

As preparations continue for the 2026 tournament, the release of “Lighter” signals the start of a broader musical rollout, with the full album expected to feature a diverse lineup of global artists. The project is designed to complement the competition, capturing the rhythm, culture and unity that define the FIFA World Cup.
