Alex Iwobi scored the decisive goal as Fulham defeated Hull City 1-0 at Craven Cottage, securing their first Premier League victory of the season and easing the pressure on head coach Álvaro Arbeloa, Trybal News reports.
The Nigerian midfielder struck in the 33rd minute, finishing from close range after Sander Berge recovered possession and helped exploit Hull’s failure to clear their lines. Iwobi’s effort slipped through goalkeeper Konstantinos Tzolakis, giving Fulham a lead they would protect until the final whistle.

The victory ended Fulham’s six-match winless start in the league and lifted them off the bottom of the table and out of the relegation zone. Arbeloa had faced increasing scrutiny after failing to secure a league win in his first six matches in charge.
Iwobi delivered an influential performance beyond his decisive finish. The midfielder completed 57 of his 61 passes, recorded 80 touches and made five recoveries, underlining his contribution to Fulham’s control of possession and work without the ball.

Fellow Nigerian international Calvin Bassey also played an important role in the victory. The defender registered 10 defensive contributions and won eight of his 13 duels, including six of 10 ground duels and two of three aerial contests, helping Fulham keep a clean sheet.

At the other end, Super Eagles defender Semi Ajayi started for Hull but could not prevent his side from suffering defeat. Ajayi recorded seven defensive contributions, six clearances and won his only aerial duel as the visitors struggled to contain Fulham’s attacking pressure.
Despite dominating the contest, Fulham were unable to extend their advantage, leaving the hosts vulnerable to a late equaliser. Their concerns intensified in stoppage time when Ryan Sessegnon was sent off for a challenge on Robinio Vaz.
Hull failed to capitalise on the late opportunity, allowing Fulham to secure three valuable points. The result offers Arbeloa some breathing room while giving Iwobi a timely opportunity to build on his first league goal of the campaign.
For Fulham, the challenge now is to turn Saturday’s result into sustained improvement as they seek to move further away from the relegation battle.
