Akor Adams scored the decisive goal as Venezia secured their first victory of the 2026-2027 season with a 1-0 win over Napoli at the Stadio Pier Luigi Penzo, Trybal News reports.

The Super Eagles striker struck in the 49th minute, capitalising on a defensive error to hand Venezia all three points after six consecutive defeats to start their Serie A campaign.

Adams pounced after Napoli defender Amir Rrahmani failed to control a long throw-in from Simon Sohm, the Switzerland international of Nigerian descent. The Nigerian forward outmuscled Rrahmani before firing a right-footed effort past goalkeeper Alex Meret, with a deflection off the defender leaving the goalkeeper wrong-footed.

The goal took Adams tally to four in nine appearances across all competitions since joining Venezia from Sevilla during the summer transfer window.

The 26-year-old was a constant attacking presence, registering six shots, three of which were on target. He recorded 37 touches and attempted 17 passes, completing eight. Defensively, Adams made four contributions, while he won four of his nine aerial duels and one of four ground duels.

Venezia had endured a difficult start to the campaign, scoring just five goals and conceding 16 in defeats to Lecce, AC Milan, Frosinone, Fiorentina, Lazio and Atalanta.

Despite ending their losing streak, Venezia remain bottom of the Serie A table, sitting one point behind Udinese, Monza, Genoa, Parma and Fiorentina in the provisional standings.
