Nigeria international Rafiu Durosinmi has credited his Genk teammates for playing a key role in his impressive start to life at the Belgian Pro League club, Trybal News reports.

The 23-year-old joined the Belgian side from Italian club Pisa during the summer and has quickly established himself as one of the standout performers this season.

Durosinmi continued his fine goalscoring form on Saturday, finding the net in Genk’s 3-0 victory over Kortrijk to take his tally to six goals in eight league appearances.

Speaking about his impressive start, the striker explained that the support of his teammates has helped him find the net consistently. He also highlighted the extra motivation he gets from wearing Genk’s shirt, which features the Golden Bull.

I’m happy to be able to wear the shirt with the Golden Bull. It gives me extra motivation to continue wearing this jersey. With the help of my teammates, I’m managing to score regularly. I hope we can continue in this vein,” Durosinmi said, as quoted by HBVL.

Beyond his goalscoring contributions, the Nigerian has also impressed with his work rate and ability to create chances for his teammates.

Durosinmi, however, is already looking beyond his current tally, revealing his ambition to finish the season as the Belgian Pro League’s leading goalscorer.

The most important thing is not that I’m at the top now, but that I’m still there at the end of the season. Otherwise, it doesn’t mean much,” he added.

The forward also revealed that he spent the international break in Genk with his family, taking advantage of a few days off to recharge before returning to action.

I stayed in Genk. We had a few days off, which I was able to spend with my family. That was really nice, although I did miss playing football,” he said.

According to Durosinmi, Genk were determined to return to winning ways after dropping points before the break, a motivation that contributed to their convincing victory over Kortrijk.

We dropped some points before the break. The task was to give everything for the club and the fans and get back to winning matches. That’s why we were so hungry,” he said.

With six goals in eight league appearances, Durosinmi will now look to maintain his impressive form as he pursues his ambition of finishing the campaign as the Belgian Pro League’s top scorer.
