Napoli Women have completed the signing of Nigeria international defender Chidinma Okeke from Mexican side América Femenil, Trybal News reports.
The 26-year-old centre-back officially joined the Italian club on Friday, September 18, signing a two-year contract that will keep her at Napoli until 2028.
Okeke arrives in Italy after two seasons in Mexico, where she established herself as an important part of América’s defence and helped the club lift the 2025/26 CONCACAF Champions Cup.
During the 2025/26 campaign, the Nigerian defender made 27 appearances in Liga MX Femenil and featured in seven Champions Cup matches.
Her move to Napoli represents another step in an increasingly international career. After beginning her senior career with Nigerian side Robo Queens, Okeke moved to Spain in 2019 to join Madrid CFF. She later continued her career in Japan with Mynavi Sendai before making the switch to America in August 2024.
At Napoli, Okeke is expected to provide defensive versatility, with the ability to operate both at centre-back and full-back. Her arrival strengthens the squad ahead of the new Serie A Women campaign.
The move also adds another European chapter to Okeke’s international career. She has represented Nigeria at multiple major youth and senior tournaments, including the 2016 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, 2018 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup and 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup. She was also part of the Super Falcons squad at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
Okeke could make her competitive debut for Napoli on September 26, when the club begin their 2026/27 Serie A Women campaign away to Juventus at Biella. Kick-off is scheduled for 12:30pm Italian time, 11:30am in Nigeria.
Napoli finished seventh in the 2025/26 Serie A Women season. With the league now consisting of 12 teams, the top three will qualify for the UEFA Women’s Champions League, while the team finishing bottom will be relegated to Serie B.
Speaking after joining the club, Okeke expressed her satisfaction with her first days in Naples after meeting the coaching staff and her new teammates.
The Nigerian international said she is focused on giving her best and contributing to the team as Napoli begin their new campaign.
