Victor Osimhen has taken a significant step forward in his recovery from injury after Galatasaray SK confirmed the striker has resumed light training.
The Super Eagles Striker, who recently underwent surgery after fracturing his right forearm, has now begun indoor and gym sessions following the initial phase of his rehabilitation. The injury occurred during a collision with Ibrahima Konaté in a UEFA Champions League clash against Liverpool FC in mid-March.
Galatasaray, in an update ahead of their Turkish Super Lig fixture against Trabzonspor, confirmed that the 27-year-old is progressing well and has transitioned into gym-based recovery work.
The training session began with dynamic warm-up exercises, followed by 8-on-2 passing drills in two groups. Under the direction of our head coach Okan Buruk, the training concluded with a four-team tournament after a possession-based practice session,” the club stated on their official website.
Victor Osimhen has resumed training in the gym following his treatment.”
While Osimhen is yet to rejoin full team training on the pitch, his return to indoor activities signals steady progress, with medical staff expected to carefully manage his workload in the coming weeks.
The forward is now targeting a return to competitive action later this month, with the high-profile Istanbul derby against Fenerbahçe SK on April 26 emerging as a possible comeback date. A return within that timeframe would mark a recovery period of approximately five to six weeks post-surgery.
Before then, Osimhen is expected to progress from gym sessions to light outdoor drills and eventually full-contact training, with the possibility of featuring with a protective splint once cleared medically.
His absence is likely to rule him out of several league fixtures and at least one domestic cup tie, but his potential return could prove decisive as Galatasaray push to maintain momentum in the title race.
