Nigeria’s Super Falcons will face Comoros in the next round of the qualifiers for the 2028 Olympic Games after the island nation recorded a remarkable 30–0 aggregate victory over Sudan in the opening round, Trybal News reports.
Comoros produced one of the most dominant performances of the qualifying campaign, thrashing Sudan 17–0 in the first leg on June 3 before completing the job with a 13–0 win in the return fixture five days later.
The Coelacanths set the tone early in the first encounter, opening the scoring after just eight minutes and never looking back. Their relentless attacking display saw nine different players find the back of the net as Sudan struggled to cope with the intensity and quality of their opponents.
Comoros maintained the momentum in the second leg, taking a three-goal lead into halftime before adding 10 more goals after the break to seal another emphatic victory.
The 30–0 aggregate triumph sends Comoros into a high-profile clash against Nigeria, the most successful team in African women’s football and reigning continental champions.
While Comoros will take confidence from their free-scoring form, they now face a much sterner test against a Super Falcons side renowned for its pedigree on the continental stage.
Nigeria, who received a bye into the round, are expected to enter the fixture as overwhelming favourites as they continue their quest for a place at the 2028 Olympic Games.
The winner of the tie will move a step closer to securing a place at the global showpiece, with the Super Falcons aiming to add another Olympic appearance to their illustrious history.
