The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) will on Thursday, April 2, 2026, officially inaugurate its Electoral Committee and Electoral Appeals Committee, following their constitution at last week’s Extraordinary General Assembly in Yenagoa.
The ceremony will take place at the NFF Secretariat in Abuja, with NFF President Ibrahim Musa Gusau, who also serves as President of WAFU B Zone, presiding over proceedings.
A total of 12 members were appointed across both committees. Seven will serve on the Electoral Committee, comprising five principal members, including a chairperson, vice chairperson, and three others alongside two alternates. The Electoral Appeals Committee will consist of five members, with three serving as principal members and two as alternates.
The Electoral Committee is mandated to oversee the entire election process in line with the provisions of the NFF Statutes (March 2026 edition) and the Electoral Code (March 2026). Its responsibilities include organizing, coordinating, and supervising all electoral activities leading up to the federation’s congress.
The committees were approved during the Extraordinary General Assembly held on March 23, 2026, where the following individuals were named: Barr. Matthew Burkala, SAN; Hon. Justice C. J. Aneke; Mr. Emmanuel Dada Obafemi; Alhaji Babagoni Grema; Barr. Benjamin Sak; Mallam Bature Musa; Prof. Abdulmalik Awwal; Arinze Azubuike Anughere, Esq; Hon. (Dr) Akogun Olugbenga Omole; Abayomi Akin Omoyimi, Esq; Ayibaye Peter Great Temedie, Esq; and Ayi Ekpo Ukpayam.
Thursday’s inauguration marks the formal commencement of duties for both committees as preparations intensify for the NFF Executive Committee elections scheduled to take place in Lafia on September 26, 2026.
