The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) on Thursday officially inaugurated its Electoral Committee and Electoral Appeals Committee ahead of the 2026–2030 Executive Committee elections.
The committees are responsible for overseeing the conduct of the elections as well as handling all complaints, petitions, and appeals arising from the process.
Speaking during the inauguration at the NFF Secretariat in Abuja, NFF President, Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau (MON), charged members of both committees to carry out their duties with integrity, fairness, and impartiality.
Responding on behalf of the committees, Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Barrister Matthew Burka’a, assured stakeholders of their commitment to delivering a credible electoral process.
We will approach this task with the seriousness it deserves. On behalf of all members, I assure the NFF, football-loving Nigerians, and the global football community that we will conduct a free, fair, credible, and acceptable election, Burka’a stated.
We are mindful of the attention from FIFA, CAF, and the entire Nigerian football family. We will work diligently to ensure this becomes the best election in the history of the Nigeria Football Federation.
Gusau announced the composition of the Electoral Committee to include Barr. Matthew Burka’a (SAN), Alhaji Babagoni Grema, Alhaji Bature Musa, Ayibaye Peter Great Temedie (Esq), and Hon. (Dr) Akogun Olugbenga Omole, with Arinze Azubuike Anughele (Esq) and Abayomi Akin Omoyimi (Esq) serving as alternate members.

The Electoral Appeals Committee will be chaired by Hon. Justice C. J. Aneke, alongside Barr. Benjamin Sati and Professor Abdulmalik Awwal, with FIFA Emmanuel Dada Obafemi and Ayi Ekpo Ukpayam as alternate members.
In line with NFF statutes, the NFF General Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi (MON), will serve as secretary to both committees.
The NFF Executive Committee elections are scheduled to take place on Saturday, September 26, 2026, in Lafia, Nasarawa State.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by several key stakeholders, including Director General of the National Institute for Sports, Comrade Philip Shaibu; NFF First Vice President, Chief Felix Anyansi-Agwu; NFF Executive Committee members Silas Agara and George Aluo; as well as members of the NFF management and staff.
