Cape Verde have pulled out of their scheduled international friendlies against Nigeria’s Super Falcons.

The matches were originally set to take place on Wednesday, April 15, and Saturday, April 18, at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne.

Sources indicate that the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is now working to secure a replacement opponent. However, the short notice could make it challenging to finalize new arrangements in time for the planned dates.

Despite this setback, the Super Falcons are still expected to assemble in Abuja this weekend as preparations continue for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), scheduled for July.

The friendlies were intended to serve as part of the team’s build-up to the continental tournament, providing head coach Justine Madugu an opportunity to assess his squad.

In their last outing during the previous international window, the Super Falcons faced Cameroon’s Indomitable Lionesses in a two-match series. The African champions fell to a 1-0 defeat in the first encounter but responded strongly with a 3-1 victory in the second match.

The NFF is expected to provide further updates regarding any replacement fixtures in the coming days.
