Super Eagles defender Bruno Onyemaechi has celebrated a special moment off the pitch, confirming the birth of his first child with his Portuguese partner, Ines Fontes.
The Olympiacos left-back, who has been in a relationship with Fontes since 2022, shared the joyful news on social media, posting a photo of himself holding the newborn with the caption, “Best gift ever.” Fontes, a content creator, had earlier given glimpses into their journey in recent weeks through shared photos.
The announcement comes shortly after Onyemaechi featured for Nigeria in their recent international friendly against Iran, showing his usual composure on the left side of defence.
However, the defender is now expected to miss the Super Eagles’ next friendly against Jordan as he takes time to be with his family following the birth.
Bruno Onyemaechi has enjoyed a steady season at club level, making 19 league appearances for Olympiacos, including 14 in the Greek top flight, while also featuring five times in the UEFA Champions League as a substitute. His performances have earned him multiple Team of the Week recognitions, underlining his growing importance for both club and country.
