England’s preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup have been disrupted after a shipment of training equipment was stolen en route to the team’s base camp in Kansas City, just days before their opening match against Croatia, Trybal News reports.

The equipment was being transported from England’s pre-tournament camp in Florida to Swope Soccer Village in Missouri when the theft occurred. Reports indicate that several items, including players’ match boots, official tournament balls and key training gear, were taken during the journey. Boots belonging to some of England’s biggest stars, including captain Harry Kane and midfielder Jude Bellingham, are believed to be among the missing items.

The incident has forced Football Association officials into a race against time to recover or replace the stolen equipment ahead of England’s first full training session in Kansas City. Analysis tools, tactical whiteboards, massage tables and other support equipment were also reportedly part of the shipment.

Kansas City Police have launched an investigation into the theft and confirmed that two individuals have been taken into custody as enquiries continue. Authorities said officers responded after a team vehicle arrived in the city with equipment missing.

The setback comes as Thomas Tuchel’s side enters the final phase of preparations for its World Cup campaign. England are scheduled to face Croatia in their Group L opener on Wednesday, with the squad arriving in Kansas City on Saturday before beginning training the following day.

While the FA has yet to provide a detailed assessment of the losses, the incident represents an unwelcome distraction for one of the tournament favourites. England had enjoyed a productive build-up in Florida and will now be hoping the off-field disruption does not impact preparations for a campaign aimed at ending the nation’s long wait for major international silverware.
