Dundee FC manager Tony Docherty has applauded Kelechi Iheanacho for his decisive role in Celtic FC’s narrow 2-1 victory on Sunday, highlighting the striker’s clinical edge in a tightly contested encounter.
Iheanacho, who has faced a difficult spell this season due to fitness setbacks, proved the difference after being introduced in the second half.
The Nigerian forward made his presence count late on, calmly converting a cross from Marcelo Saracchi to hand Celtic all three points.

The match at Dens Park had been evenly balanced for long periods. Celtic went ahead in the first half through Yang Hyun-jun, but Dundee responded after the break when Simon Murray converted from the penalty spot to level matters.
Just as the contest appeared to be heading for a draw, Iheanacho stepped up in the closing stages, producing a composed finish that ultimately settled the tie in Celtic’s favour.
Speaking after the match on BBC Scotland, Docherty acknowledged Celtic’s late surge and reserved special praise for Iheanacho’s quality in front of goal.
Celtic have started to do what they were doing in the first half. It’s a great finish from Iheanacho,” he said.
The goal marked a significant moment for Iheanacho, who has been working his way back to full fitness after injury disruptions. Having previously found the net earlier in the campaign, the forward will be encouraged by his growing influence as the season reaches a crucial stage.
With Celtic firmly in the hunt to retain the Scottish Premiership title, Iheanacho’s timely return to form could prove vital in the weeks ahead.
