The Ghana Football Association has reportedly reached out to Walid Regragui as they search for a new head coach for the Black Stars following recent struggles.

Ghana are currently without a permanent manager after parting ways with Otto Addo, whose second spell in charge came to an abrupt end after a disappointing March international window. The decision followed consecutive defeats in friendly matches, including a heavy 5-1 loss to Austria in Vienna and a 2-1 defeat to Germany in Stuttgart.

Those results intensified pressure on the Ghana FA, prompting swift action as they look to steady the team ahead of the 2026 World Cup. According to Ghana Soccer Net, attention has now turned to Regragui, who recently left his role with Morocco and is widely regarded as one of the top coaches on the continent.

Regragui’s stock rose significantly after leading Morocco to a historic semi final finish at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, making them the first African nation to reach that stage. His tactical approach, defensive organisation and strong relationship with players have made him an attractive option for national teams looking to rebuild.

Ghana are keen to restore their status among Africa’s elite and believe an experienced coach with a proven track record at the highest level could be key to that process. Talks are still at an early stage, but the move signals clear intent from the federation to reset and push the Black Stars back into contention on the continental and global stage.
