Nigeria’s senior women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, have added another major fixture to their build-up schedule ahead of the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup, with a preseason showdown against Indiana Fever now confirmed.
The encounter is set to take place on May 2, 2026, at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, further strengthening Nigeria’s preparations as they gear up for the global tournament.
D’Tigress announced the development via their official social media channels, teasing the growing list of tour stops across the United States. The team had earlier revealed fixtures in San Diego and Kansas City, and described the latest addition as another key step in their journey.
Officials of the WNBA side also confirmed the game, noting that it forms part of their preseason programme while acknowledging the rising reputation of the Nigerian team on the international stage.
Before the Indiana clash, D’Tigress will first face Los Angeles Sparks in San Diego on April 25, in what is expected to be a landmark meeting. The African champions will then take on the Minnesota Lynx in Kansas City on April 27, making the Indiana Fever game the third confirmed fixture of the tour.
The expanded schedule underlines a clear plan by the Nigeria Basketball Federation to expose the team to elite competition as they fine-tune strategies ahead of the World Cup.
D’Tigress head into the tour with strong credentials, having dominated the continent with a fifth consecutive AfroBasket title, a feat that secured their place at the upcoming global showpiece. Ranked among the top teams in the world, the Nigerian side will see the U.S. tour as a valuable opportunity to test their quality against some of the finest talents in women’s basketball.
With three cities and top-tier opponents already lined up, the tour represents a significant phase in Nigeria’s preparation, offering both experience and intensity as they aim to make a strong statement on the world stage.
