Temitope Folarin’s 52nd minute goal was the difference as Ikorodu City beat league leaders Rivers United in their Nigerian Premier Football League match day 30 encounter.
Both teams came into the encounter needing all three points for different reasons, with both teams flying off the blocks from the get go.
Ikorodu City started the brighter of the two, with Abayomi failing to beat Osagie in goal for Rivers United after being played in by Tosin.
Despite the best efforts of Ikorodu city’s Joseph Arumala and his attacking support cast, first half ended all square, before substitute Temitope Folarin fired the rebound past Osagie for the game’s only goal.

In quick transition, Folarin passed the ball to Arumala who got past his man and delivered a pinpoint pass to Farouk who fired into the path of Osagie who could not hold onto the shot, spilling it to the feet of Folarin who made no mistake from 7 yards.
The result means Rivers United stay top of the league with 52 points and go away to Nigeria Tornadoes in search of their first win after back to back loses against Shooting Stars of Ibadan and Ikorodu City.
Ikorodu stay third, behind Rivers United and Enugu Rangers who drew Kwara United yesterday
