The Jordan Football Association has confirmed that the upcoming four nation invitational tournament involving Nigeria, Iran, Costa Rica and hosts Jordan will now take place in Turkey instead of Jordan.

The competition was originally scheduled to be staged in Amman, the Jordanian capital, but organizers have decided to move the event to the Turkish city of Antalya due to the current security situation in the region.

The tournament will still go ahead in March 2026 and is expected to provide important preparation for some of the participating teams ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Announcing the change, the Jordan Football Association explained that the decision was made because of ongoing tensions in the Middle East and travel difficulties affecting movement in the region.

“The Jordan Football Association has decided to move the matches of the four-team international friendly tournament, scheduled for March 2026, to be held in the Turkish city of Antalya, due to the current situation in the region and the limited movement of people,” the JFA announced on its official website.

Nigeria’s Super Eagles will begin their campaign in the tournament with a match against Iran on Friday, March 27. On the same day, hosts Jordan will take on Costa Rica in the other fixture.

The second round of matches will be played on Tuesday, March 31. Nigeria will face Jordan in their final game of the tournament, while Iran will go up against Costa Rica.

The invitational competition is expected to offer valuable match experience for the participating teams, particularly Jordan and Iran as they continue preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
