Davidson Owumi, Chief Operating Officer of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), has stated that the league body is closely monitoring developments as the 2025 2026 season enters its decisive phase.

With ten matches remaining, Owumi stressed that the league management remains firm in enforcing its regulations and will not tolerate any misconduct. He explained that all clubs are fully aware of the rules guiding the competition and must comply without exception. “Every club knows the rules and that we (NPFL) are not bending in our strict adherence to the regulations guiding the league,” Owumi, a former Nigeria international, revealed in an exclusive chat with Completesports.com on Tuesday morning.

According to him, the NPFL has maintained control throughout the campaign and is determined to ensure that the closing stages are free of controversy. He made it clear that adherence to the league’s framework is compulsory and that any club found violating the rules will face sanctions in line with established guidelines. “It’s either you play by the rules or get sanctioned in accordance with the laid-down frameworks of the league. We’re monitoring the situation with clear eyes,” he emphasized.

Owumi, a former Nigeria international, added that the smooth running of the league so far has been widely acknowledged and that the management is committed to preserving that standard. He emphasised that protecting the integrity of the competition is a top priority, especially as the battle for the title and survival intensifies.

The former player of Sharks F.C. and Enugu Rangers, who also served as General Manager of Rangers, said the league body will continue to keep a close watch on all fixtures to prevent any untoward incidents.

After 28 rounds of matches, Enugu Rangers lead the table with 47 points, while Kwara United F.C. sit at the bottom with 29 points as the season approaches its climax.
