Ex-MFM Star Stephen Odey Joins Debreceni VSC on Free Transfer

Hungarian side Debreceni VSC have completed the signing of Nigerian striker Stephen Odey on a free transfer. Trybal News reports.

The 28 year old became available after leaving Danish Superliga club Randers FC in December when his contract expired. He spent four and a half years with the Danish club.

In an official club statement, the Hungarian side announced, “DVSC has signed Nigerian striker Stephen Odey. The 28-year-old, 182 cm tall striker most recently played for Danish club Randers FC and previously played for the Nigerian national team. Swiss Cup winner and Belgian Super Cup winner.”

Odey initially joined Randers on loan during the 2021/2022 season with an option to make the move permanent. After impressing, he secured a full transfer and went on to score 28 goals in 129 appearances for the East Jutland side.

Before his time in Denmark, Odey began his European career with Swiss club FC Zürich. He later featured for Belgian side KRC Genk and French outfit Amiens SC.

The former MFM striker has scored a total of 83 goals across different leagues in his professional career and will now look to make an impact in Hungary with Debreceni VSC, who are seven time league champions.
