Victor Osimhen scored a crucial extra time goal as Galatasaray SK secured passage to the Champions League round of 16 despite a dramatic 3-2 second leg defeat to Juventus FC at the Allianz Stadium.

Galatasaray went into the encounter holding a commanding 5-2 advantage from the first leg in Istanbul, but Juventus mounted a fierce comeback in front of their home supporters. The Italian side began their recovery in the first half when captain Manuel Locatelli converted from the penalty spot after Lucas Torreira fouled Khephren Thuram.

Juventus suffered another setback early in the second half when English defender Lloyd Kelly was sent off in the 49th minute. His second yellow card was upgraded to a straight red after a review, leaving the hosts to continue with 10 men.

The match went into extra time with both sides pushing for a decisive goal. As Juventus began to tire and missed key chances, Galatasaray regained control. Osimhen struck with a low finish after being set up by Baris Yilmaz to restore the visitors’ aggregate lead in a tense and absorbing contest.

With the hosts committing men forward in search of another equaliser, Yilmaz sealed the outcome late in extra time, breaking clear and calmly finishing past goalkeeper Mattia Perin to confirm Galatasaray’s progression.

Victor Osimhen played the full 120 minutes and delivered an impressive individual performance. He registered six shots, five of them on target, had 39 touches, completed 10 of his 15 passes and scored his third career goal against Juventus.

Galatasaray have now reached the Champions League round of 16 for the first time since the 2013/2014 season and will face either Liverpool FC or Tottenham Hotspur FC in the next round.
