Ademola Lookman has been officially presented with his Atlético Madrid jersey number following a special unveiling ceremony held at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano, just 24 hours after the club confirmed his €40 million transfer from Atalanta.
The Super Eagles forward appeared before the media dressed in a suit, answering questions from journalists before being handed his new shirt bearing the number 22. The presentation marked his first official engagement as an Atlético Madrid player since completing the move from Italy.
Atlético Madrid confirmed the moment on social media, writing: “Our president, Enrique Cerezo, presented Ademola Lookman with his new shirt during the presentation event of the Nigerian international, held at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano”.
The unveiling comes shortly after Lookman penned an emotional farewell to Atalanta on Monday February 2nd, 2026, bringing an end to a memorable spell in Bergamo that lasted nearly four years and included historic success for the Italian side.
Lookman’s arrival also sees him become only the second Nigerian to feature for Atlético Madrid’s men’s team. The first was Abass Lawal, who played for Atlético B between 1997 and 2000 before making appearances for the senior side during the 2000–01 season.
The Nigerian forward could make his competitive debut for Diego Simeone’s team on Thursday, February 5, when Atlético Madrid face Real Sociedad in the Copa del Rey quarter final at the Estadio La Cartuja de Sevilla.
