NPFL Fines Enyimba N5m and Orders Closed Door Matches

The Nigeria Premier Football League has handed Enyimba a N5 million fine for multiple breaches during their Matchday 21 fixture against Barau FC.

The game, which ended in a goalless draw at the Enyimba International Stadium in Aba, was marred by serious security lapses, according to the league.

The NPFL stated that Enyimba failed to provide adequate security, leading to the loss of valuable items belonging to match officials. Supporters were also reported to have invaded restricted areas inside the stadium and held match officials hostage during the encounter.

As part of the disciplinary measures, Enyimba have been ordered to play their next three home matches behind closed doors.

The Aba based club has been given 48 hours from the date of notification to appeal the sanctions.
