NSC Sympathizes With Anthony Joshua Following Fatal Road Accident

The National Sports Commission (NSC) has expressed deep sympathy with former world heavyweight boxing champion Anthony Joshua following a fatal road accident that occurred on Monday, December 29, along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway.

The tragic accident claimed the lives of Joshua’s strength and conditioning coach, Sina Ghami, and his personal trainer, Kevin Latif Ayodele, while the boxing star survived and is currently recovering.

In a show of compassion and leadership, the Director General of the National Sports Commission, Hon. Bukola Olopade, paid a condolence visit to Anthony Joshua on behalf of the Commission.

Hon. Olopade described the incident as tragic and deeply saddening, while thanking God for the survival of the boxing icon.

On behalf of the National Sports Commission and the entire Nigerian sports family, I express my heartfelt condolences to the families who lost their loved ones in this unfortunate accident, he said.

We thank God for the life of Anthony Joshua. Our thoughts and prayers are with him as he recovers, and we wish him a full and speedy return to good health.

The NSC Director General also reiterated the importance of road safety and responsible driving, urging all road users to exercise patience, caution, and responsibility at all times.

The incident has continued to attract messages of sympathy from across the sports community, as the NSC stands in solidarity with Anthony Joshua and the families affected by the tragic loss.
