Super Eagles striker Kelechi Iheanacho continued his remarkable goalscoring form on Monday, finding the net for the 11th consecutive league match as Bursaspor secured a 2-0 victory over Pendikspor in Turkey’s second division, Trybal News reports.

The Nigerian international sealed the win in the 62nd minute at the Atatürk Spor Kompleksi Matlı Stadium, finishing a well-worked attacking move to extend his extraordinary scoring streak.

Iheanacho’s goal came after Lincoln Henrique combined with Barış Gök to advance the ball before linking up with Juergen Elitim. Lincoln subsequently delivered a cross from inside the penalty area, allowing Iheanacho to head home from close range inside the six-yard box.

The strike doubled Bursaspor’s advantage after Halil Akbunar had opened the scoring in the 10th minute. Akbunar finished a move initiated by a quickly taken free-kick, with Amine Boutrah carrying the ball forward before delivering a low cross into the penalty area. Following a defensive intervention, the ball fell to Akbunar, who finished with his left foot.

The victory lifted Bursaspor to 25 points, keeping them second in the league standings, one point behind leaders Kayserispor. Pendikspor remained on 10 points after the defeat.

Iheanacho’s latest goal took his league tally to 15, further strengthening his position among the competition’s leading scorers.

The former Leicester City and Celtic forward had already established a Bursaspor club record by scoring in nine successive league matches, surpassing Brazilian striker Fernandao’s previous mark of eight games, set during the 2014-15 season.

He subsequently became the first player to score in 10 consecutive matches in Turkish league football, surpassing the nine-game benchmarks associated with Galatasaray legend Metin Oktay in 1962-63 and former Turkey international Saffet Sancaklı in 1995-96.

Iheanacho reached that milestone with a brace in Bursaspor’s 3-0 victory over Muğlaspor on October 15 before extending his record to 11 matches against Pendikspor.

Bursaspor will next travel to face Ankara Keçiörengücü on October 25, while Pendikspor are scheduled to host league leaders Kayserispor on the same day.
