African champions Nigeria’s D’Tigress have confirmed their final 12 player roster for the 2026 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup in Berlin, with head coach Rena Wakama combining experience and emerging talent for the tournament.

Nigeria will make their third appearance at the Women’s Basketball World Cup after previous campaigns in 2006 and 2018. The team will now look to build on the progress they made during their last appearance on the global stage.

Ezinne Kalu and Promise Amukamara will make history alongside Aisha Mohammed. Kalu and Amukamara will join Mohammed as the only Nigerian players to feature at two FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cups.

D’Tigress World Cup squad and fixtures

Wakama has selected Promise Amukamara, Jordan Obi, Elizabeth Balogun, Murjanatu Musa, Pallas Kunaiyi, Rita Igbokwe, Victoria Macaulay, Ezinne Kalu, Shay Ijiwoye, Nicole Enabosi, Amy Okonkwo and Grace Efosa for the tournament.

D’Tigress will compete in Group B alongside France, Hungary and Korea Republic. Nigeria will open their campaign against Korea Republic on 4 September at Berlin Arena.

The African champions will then face Hungary on 5 September at Max-Schmeling-Halle in Berlin. They will complete the group stage against France on 7 September at Berlin Arena.

Nigeria will enter the tournament hoping to repeat the historic progress they made in 2018. D’Tigress became the first African team to reach the World Cup quarter-finals that year and finished eighth overall.

That eighth place remains the highest finish by an African team at the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup. Consequently, Wakama’s side will aim to create another landmark moment in Berlin while carrying the hopes of African basketball with them.
