Brighton & Hove Albion have reached an agreement with Millwall to sign Nigerian winger Femi Azeez in a deal worth more than £15 million, Trybal News reports.

According to The Athletic’s David Ornstein, Brighton will pay an initial £12.5 million for the 25-year-old, with the total value of the deal expected to rise to just over £15 million. Azeez has been granted permission to undergo a medical ahead of completing the transfer.

The winger is expected to sign a four-year contract with an option for a further 12 months, bringing an end to his two-year spell at Millwall.

Brighton had maintained their interest in Azeez despite several approaches being rejected by Millwall, who were initially seeking a fee in the region of £15 million for the Nigeria international. A breakthrough was eventually reached on transfer deadline day.

Azeez has emerged from an outstanding 2025/26 Championship campaign in which he scored 11 goals and registered seven assists for Millwall. His performances earned him a place in the PFA Championship Team of the Year, while he was also named Championship Player of the Month for February.

His club form also earned him a breakthrough at international level. After committing his senior international future to Nigeria, Azeez received his first Super Eagles call-up and made an immediate impact, scoring twice on his debut against Zimbabwe in the Unity Cup.

The proposed Brighton move represents a significant increase in Azeez’s value since he joined Millwall from Reading in August 2024 for a fee reported to be around £1 million.

Azeez developed through the English football system after starting his senior career in non-league football before progressing through Reading. His move to Brighton would now give him his first opportunity to compete in the Premier League.

The transfer will also add another Nigerian player to Brighton’s ranks, with teenage winger Zadok Yohanna having joined the club from Swedish side AIK earlier this summer.

Subject to the successful completion of his medical and formalities, Azeez will become a Brighton player and take the next step in a rapid rise that has taken him from the lower levels of English football to the Championship’s elite and now the Premier League.
