Nigeria international forward Sadiq Umar was on target for Valencia on Sunday evening, but his goal was not enough to prevent his side from suffering a 3-1 defeat to Deportivo La Coruña in La Liga, Trybal News reports.

Deportivo made a fast start to the encounter, taking the lead in the 12th minute through César before Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang doubled the hosts’ advantage just five minutes later.

Sadiq gave Valencia hope of a comeback in the 26th minute when he pulled one back for the visitors, reducing the deficit to 2-1 before the break.

Valencia, however, were unable to find an equaliser after the restart as Deportivo continued to control the game.

Mouctar Diakhaby put the result beyond Valencia in the 59th minute, sealing a 3-1 victory for the hosts and securing all three points.

Despite the defeat, Sadiq produced an active performance in attack. The Nigerian forward recorded two shots, completed 11 of 13 passes, and registered 29 touches during the match.

He also made two defensive contributions, while winning two of five ground duels and four of eight aerial duels, highlighting his physical presence throughout the encounter.

Sadiq’s goal adds to his contribution for Valencia as he continues to play an important role in the club’s attacking department.
