Zambia and Comoros played out a cagey 0–0 draw in their Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025 Group A encounter at the Mohammed V Stadium in Casablanca, becoming the first match of the tournament not to produce a goal.

Zambia arrived with confidence after rescuing a late 1–1 draw against Mali in their opener, while Comoros were chasing their first points following a narrow 2–1 defeat to hosts Morocco. History offered Zambia a slight edge, with four wins from the previous seven meetings between the nations, but there was little to separate them on the night.

The opening half was disrupted by frequent fouls and stop–start passages of play, with both teams managing promising breaks but lacking precision in the final third. The most dramatic moment came in the 19th minute when Comoros thought they had taken the lead through Myziane Maolida, only for VAR to rule the goal out for a foul in the build-up. Youssouf M’Changama then went close shortly after, dragging a right-footed effort wide from distance.

Zambia threatened sporadically, with David Simukonda’s header blocked following a Kings Kangwa cross, but clear-cut chances remained rare as the match tightened into a tactical battle.

The second half followed a similar pattern, with Zambia trying their luck from range. Lameck Banda fired over from outside the box in the 51st minute, while Mathews Banda also sent an effort high and wide six minutes later after being set up by Dominic Chanda.

Comoros nearly snatched victory in the 81st minute when captain Youssouf M’Changama lifted a clever ball over the defence, only for the resulting header to loop just over the advancing Zambian goalkeeper Willard Mwanza. Zambia rallied late on, with Lubambo Musonda steering a late attempt wide in the 86th minute, but the breakthrough never arrived despite sustained pressure.

Both sides were ultimately left to settle for a point, Zambia moving to two from two matches while Comoros collect their first of the tournament. Zambia now turn their attention to a crucial meeting with Morocco on Monday the 29th, while Comoros prepare to face Mali as Group A remains finely poised.
